THE CONCEPT
Heatwaves and floods are important climate-change related risks for the city of Rome. Satellite data let us monitor temperature at the surface and land use and show what makes parts of the city more resilient to heat and to precipitations than others.
+2 degrees Rome is thought as a 4-pieces collection, including two capes and two associated shirts.
Runoff across Rome, related to the capacity of land cover to absorb excess water, is visible on a waterproof cape, meant to provide shelter in sudden precipitation events.
The Land Surface Temperature for Rome is printed on a summer cape, a lightweight, breathable, cotton and silk protection to our body’s exposure to the tricky summer sun.
The collection was explicitely created for an event organised in the framework of “Rome Future Week 2023“. The event titled “La moda a Roma: il percorso verso un futuro sostenibile” included presentations to reflect on the fashion industry impacts and a showcase of Rome-based fashion projects tackling various aspects of these impacts.
